LAR Maná is a children’s home which was founded on July 5th, 2008. The children´s home will be sheltering needy children whose life has been threatened in their original environment by being victims of any kind of physical or psychological abuse or violence, abandonment, negligence, etc. They will be sent to us by the infant and juvenile court our by the county social workers.

Our goal is to welcome those kids giving them the physical, emotional, protection and security they need providing them a healthy and sound environment in which they can experience love and respect.

Our mission is to love and to care for them and bring back to them their joy, faith and hope for better days and an accomplishing life. Help them to become citizens of God´s kingdom. Good husbands and fathers, good wives and mothers. Professionals, loving and caring people. That´s the reason LAR Maná came into existence. To help them to reintegrate society as Christian man and woman fully able to interact and live in harmony with his or her neighbor in the future.

The area where it is located is a very poor area. Some of the children living in the neighborhood have already been assisted by a social project from the Church of Christ in Boa Viagem, Recife, PE that teach Bible Classes and on special occasions also give them some goodies. Those children love to learn from the Bible and to pray. So this project will continue with them and may be even improved if we have the funds for it.

The building below will be remodeled and used as an administration office. The work on it is estimated in 10,000 US$ including furniture and equipments. The roof is so hot we need a ceiling, build up inside walls, painting, floor, etc.

This one below will be used for a clinic. We are planning to have a general practitioner and a dentist working as volunteers to assist the children´s home children and local children and adults too.

Taking our children to church every Sunday would be a certain trouble to us, besides, the local community is full of people walking around looking for the truth willing to obey the Word of God. So we came to the conclusion that starting a congregation of the church within the campus limits will help us to solve part of the problems concerning the children and will help us to reach out to the community.

To finish this construction including 02 classrooms and 02 bathrooms will take approximately 15,000 US$.

When it comes to children security is top priority. That´s why all the usable area of the property is being fenced by a cement block wall. It will be 400 meters long by 07 feet high. The cost of this is estimated in 60,000 US$. It´s a great deal of money for a fencing wall but we think it´s worthwhile considering the children´s security and comfort. Half of it is already done.

This building was initially meant for a camping site but, now that it is being transformed into a children´s home , quite a

few changes will be necessary. The structure of the building is very strong and will enable us to save a lot of money to remodel it. Our plan is to make 04 apartments for sheltering kids. We are going to have 03 sets of houseparents and one set of relief house parents. Each apartment will be designed to hold 12 children.

The total capacity will be 36 children at the same time.

The third floor will be finished and adapted to be used for camping and campaigns. A place to welcome North Americans campaigners when they come to the

Recife area on mission trips and local churches on their commemorative events and others. This multiple purpose floor will have a very important role. It will provide some funds to the institution and also reinforce the spiritual aspect of the work.
